Dermarollers are used for a treatment process called micro needling or skin needling. It is a form of collagen induction therapy, quickly gaining popularity in the USA, UK and Europe. Unlike other treatments for acne scars, stretch marks and wrinkles, Dermarollers do not damage the skin or remove the epidermis layer. You should consider the differences between professional salon based treatments and home based approaches. Deep scarring is unlikely to benefit from home based treatments. You can see the suitable treatments for at home needling by clicking below.
Although there are no outward signs of damage, one single micro needle causes a tiny wound in the skin. You cannot see it or feel it as the damage is on a minute scale. Despite the minuscule nature of the wound, the body still acts to heal itself in its own natural way.
The post traumatic response of the skin is to produce collagen and elastin – two of the key building blocks of skin. As there has been no removal or “real” damage to existing collagen, the new formations simply add to existing levels.
As a typical roller, there are 192 needles. If when using the Dermaroller the skin is rolled six times (back and forth in three directions), this is over a thousand needle entries, all of which will act to stimulate new collagen fibres. Over time, this will act to increase the thickness, suppleness and general condition of the skin in these areas.
In addition to stimulating collagen growth, micro needling also create channels through which any substance applied to the skins surface (know as topical application) can be absorbed far more easily. It is, after all, the skins job to keep things out and piercing this shield works well in breaking down that barrier for a limited time.
What this means is any topical application used actually reaches the areas it is intended for and as a result, is far more effective. This offers the perfect opportunity to apply specialist skin care products or simple vitamin enriched moisturizer to give the skin the best environment in which to repair.
Similarly, if the derma roller is used in conjunction with a hair loss treatment (of topically applied lotion) the effectiveness of the gel, cream or liquid is boosted. Considering the cost of hair loss reduction treatments, the Dermaroller represents a superb way to reduce these costs whilst still enhancing results. Skin Needling will not reverse the signs of hair loss without the use of third party products.

The Dermaroller can be used to treat all of the following
The best way to get the best results, is by having a salon based treatment. Whilst effective, it typically costs hundreds of pounds a session. Most users find home based treatments are not difficult to do and are possible for a fraction of the price of a single salon session.
The effectiveness of home based treatments largely depends on what you are trying to treat. Where the skin has very minor problems, such as stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles, the process is very effective. Results can often be seen within the first couple of weeks although full results are likely to take longer.
As the skin issues worsen, such as with acne scarring and light body scarring, it can take considerably more patience and may be inneffective in certain cases. For surgical and deep scarring, it is highly unlikely that you will achieve anything more than an improved blending of the scar with a home based treatment.
The effectiveness of skin care products is certainly boosted as the micro channels act create channels into the skin. We simply advise that at the very least, you apply a vitamin enriched moisturizer. Most high street pharmacies will stock well known brands although we do invite you to consider our skin care range of organic and 100% natural products.
